ABS & ASA are strong and impact-resistant materials, very suitable for functional parts. It does require a higher temperature range and stick very well to our surfaces. For that reason we do not recommend the BuildTak Plus+ PP Surface. For our Original and Plus+ PA/PC surface, keeping a good nozzle-to-surface distance will help tremendously when printing. Start from further away than you'd think, then lower your nozzle to meet the surface.

PETG is the choice of many as it combines the ease of PLA with comparable strength to ABS. It does require a higher temperature range so we do not recommend the BuildTak Plus+ PP Surface. For our Original, you want to follow similar rules to ABS/ASA and keep a good nozzle distance. For our Plus+ PA/PC surface, it is one of the easiest materials to print as the coating creates the perfect hold and release! We recommend the Plus+ PA/PC surface all the way!

⭐ : BuildTak recommendation
PC is known for its exceptional strength and impact resistance which makes it ideal for parts requiring high mechanical loads. For PC we recommend the BuildTak Plus+ PA/PC as it is specifically designed for it. For BuildTak Original, we get some customers who can print PC no problem, but they run the risk of fusing the material into the bed. We recommend if you do need to print on Original that you use a loose raft and keep the nozzle height far enough where the material just touches the bed. We do not recommend Plus+ PP as the temperature loads and stresses will damage the coating.

Nylon (PA) is the heralded for its high tensile strength, durability and flexibility and a prime engineering material of choice. For PA we solely recommend the BuildTak Plus+ PA/PC as it is specifically designed for it. It allows for great surface adhesion at lower temp. No extra surface additions required!

⭐ : BuildTak recommendation
PP is more of an up-and-comer in the 3D printing world. A very common plastic for everyday use, it used to be very difficult to get consistent surface adhesion. Fortunately we have a very effective solution for it in the form our BuildTak Plus+ PP! We recommend printing cold to 30 °C and you might still need a brim for those pesky corners. We also note that you can get effective adhesion with our BuildTak Plus+ PA/PC! Starting with high temp for the first layer and cold for the rest.
